For the love of books!

A few weeks ago a friend gave me a book as a present. Not only was I overjoyed to dive into this amazing read (more details on the book below) but I couldn’t help thinking “why don’t we buy books for each more often?”. With the holidays coming up, I decided this would be my new thing and I would be a book giver. Here are my top picks for books this year:

The Inconvenient Indian by Thomas King

The title did make me slightly uncomfortable but it was created purposely. This true, vivid and critical account of aboriginals through history in North America. The book is a must read for all Canadians.

The Book of
Memory by Petina Gappah

This is the book that I referred to earlier and I cannot put it down. It tells the story of an albino child born in Zimbabwe and takes you through why she is being charged for murder. It’s sweet, crude and intriguing all at once.
